KnitSpot.com Patterns, Funky Carolina & more

One Planet Yarn and Fiber is finishing up a very busy month.! Hopefully, we will soon be able to fulfill our commitment of donating a portion of our profits to Nonviolent Peace Force. Check out their site, the link is on the side bar. We chose them because they work with numerous groups around the world to support peace making activities of all sorts. The mission of the Nonviolent Peaceforce is to build a trained, international civilian peaceforce committed to third-party nonviolent intervention. We appreciate everyone's support of One Planet!

June Vacation-

Just a pre-announcement that we will be closed completely for a four day break in June. From June 14th-June 17th, we will not be here to answer emails or send out packages. They will all be sent out on Monday the 18th, so it is just a short delay. We will remind people later and also put this on our website.

Patterns from Knitspot.com

We are just finishing up listing all of the patterns from our newest pattern company Knitspot.com. We are thrilled to provide these patterns to all of our customers in download format. Please look at the Knitspot.com section on our web site. Many of Knitspot.com's patterns use variegated yarn and since we have so many handpainted yarns in our shop, we thought these would be perfect. The pattern downloads are so convenient , especially for all of our international customers and for pattern and yarn addicts who like instant gratification!

Check out two of our very favorite patterns, the brand new Morning Glory wrap knit with DK weight handpainted yarn (try using the Sheep Shop 3 merino and silk for this wrap-yummy) and also the Japanese Feather Stole or Scarf in fingering weight (how about Hand Maiden sea silk or Fleece Artist Sea Wool)

New this week! Patterns! Patterns!

We have quite a few exclusive One Planet Yarn and Fiber patterns releasing soon. Please watch this space and you may see a new pattern every single week!!! It is very exciting, because we have an incredibly talented group of designers working with us!!

A New Yarn Botanika Pattern!

We are proud to be releasing a new pattern Gina House. Gina has published her first patterns at One Planet Yarn and Fiber including the Haiku Flower socks in Black Pearl Yarns cashmere and the Radiance Lace Headband.

This pattern is called the Lovely Waters Tablerunner, and it is simply exquisite! The yarn shown in the pattern is Yarn Botanika hand dyed DK weight superwash merino in the colorway called Blue Moon. This gorgeous table runner was somewhat difficult to photograph because the lace pattern is so beautiful, and the item is long, so it was hard to get a photo that really showed the detail. There are also beads on the end, and you can see these in one of the photos.

Yarn Botanika Radiance DK weight yarn and another would be the Sheep Shop 3 merino and silk yarn. Either of these would be gorgeous in this yarn. A heavier fingering weight yarn could be used, for example the Fleece Artist Sea Wool Sock yarn which is also washable is perfect for this pattern and we are getting more new colors in soon! Also check in the "indie company" section of our site for sport weight/DK weight yarns that might work for this lovely pattern!

Coming Soon

We have many patterns coming soon. We have felted patterns coming including a felted Spa Set and several felted bags in Lanas Puras melosa. We also will be adding beautiful patterns from a company called Knitspot.com. We have hand dyed yarns, fibers, spinning batts, and knitting bags coming from Madelinetosh and Funky Carolina. Another Yarn Pirate shipment is expected by the end of this week! We have a huge new shipment of Lanas Puras Melosa yarns coming with a many colors of lace, fingering and worsted weight yarns. We also have a new Lanas Puras Yarn coming soon called Lanas Puras Clarissa!! We are very excited about this new yarn! It is being spun exclusively for One Planet Yarn and Fiber in Uruguay. It is 50% cotton and 50% merino wool (the same lovely Lanas Puras merino) in big DK weight skeins. In June, will be adding two new yarn companies (exciting!!) and we should have a new Fleece Artist order here!

More about all of these new offerings soon!

PS Do you read Interweave Knits magazine?? See our ad on page 27 of the summer knits issue, and there is a special gift there for you !! :) We also have this issue for sale under Magazines and Books!

May 9th- What's New This Week

We have another week of a lot of new items.... It can't continue like this forever, feeling like a holiday but for now it is quite a bit of fun to unpack boxes full of amazing yarns and other goodies.

First, we got a few skeins of yarn in from our favorite handspinner, Rachel Dow, of RMD designs. Her handspun yarns are amazing, just because of the colors and the care that goes into each skein. I have made a few drop stitch scarves from her yarns for gifts and people always oohed and ahhed because the colors are so amazing. Visit Rachel's section of our shop and really even a simple stitch pattern with her yarns makes an amazing scarf or shawl. You could knit up a shawl on really big needless and a loose stitch and have an amazing garment. Here is one of her skeins that came in tis week.

We received an entire shipment of Be Sweet products, which we could go on and on about. They have the most unusual yarns in the prettiest colors and they are a company with a great vision and philolophy. Please read about them on our site and take a look at the Magic Balls and patterns and kits! When I saw this sweater, I just fell in love and I have to make it for myself. We decided to put it into kit form, which we sell on our site! The magic balls and kits are already selling so soon we'll have to buy more magic balls and more kits ..

And what is a magic ball by the way? They are amazing little creations of different kinds of yarns, hand dyed and handspun by women in South Africa, full of different textures and colors. Several of the patterns call for only one magic ball.... Here is a "hot sundae" magic ball-the colors are delicious and one ball can make a tote bag or a little clutch. A few can make a scarf, shawl or sweater, so take a peak at all the Be Sweet Products.

Last but definitely not least, for spinners and aspiring spinners everywhere, how lucky are we to have our first shipment of hand turned spindles from Avi Wasserman in Israel. Avi is a very talented artisan and an interesting and nice person! His background is actually in engineering and he takes the production of each of spindles quite seriously. He uses amazing exotic woods and adds other unique features like inlay silver that you will not see anywhere on other spindles. As we went through them to photograph, we oohed and ahhed and I want every one! It is very very difficult these days to find spindles like this so we hope those of you who like to spin, will want to add these to your collection! We also have loads of new spinning fiber coming in the next few months so watch the spinning section. Here are examples of two of Avi Wasserman's spindles. The first is a beautiful dyed blue Queensland maple spindle that also uses ebony wood. The shaft is made from mahogany.

This second one is an example of Avi's new spindle designs that have the precious silver inlaid into them. These really are unusual and one of a kind works of art! We hope to be showing many of Avi's other designs in the future.

That is it for now..... except don't forget to join our mailing list for special private offers, etc. We typically send out a mailer once per month or every other month and never share your name or contact information.
