The Sunshine Tank, New Items, Five Day Summer Sale

There is nothing like a fabulous new pattern or a sale to add some spark to your summer! We are happy to be able to offer you both of these terrific opportunities this week at One Planet Yarn and Fiber.

Need a quick, cute project for those summer days? Look no further than the Sunshine Tank! Simple enough for the advanced beginner, with just enough stitch detail to keep things interesting. You'll be sitting on the beach, in your new tank, enjoying the rays in no time. Our newest pattern, the Sunshine Tank, was designed by our extremely talented Creative Director, Melissa Wehrle.

The Sunshine Tank is a perfect summer top and knits up beautifully in our Yarn Botanika Radiance, Fingering Weight, yarn. The wave stitch pattern in the chest area can be shortened or lengthened to fit any body type. The variegated yarn used to design the pattern adds even more interest to this simple design. This pattern is available as a download.

Keep a lookout for many more fashion forward creations by Melissa as well as by several other talented designers in the months to come.

We have many new Radiance colors for you to choose to knit this gorgeous tank!! And we are having a special offer on this yarn for this pattern as well as our other main yarn lines. But you must be on our mailing list to receive the code! If you aren't on our mailing list yet, sign up and let us know and we'll send you the sale notice.

Also new this week....... We have a wonderful new Indie yarn company all the way from Australia called Knitting by Zen. Knitting by Zen is owned by a truly "Zen" person who seems to practice the name of her business...... She is wonderful to work with, an honest and upfront person and a very talented fiber artist! She uses all local Australian wool. It really has a different feel to it. It is soft and squishy and simply luscious!! Check out the new yarns just listed by Knitting by Zen. Here is one sample skein called Rosewood, one of my favorites!!

We have a new shipment of gorgeous yarns from Sunshine yarns.. Did you know Sunshine Yarns is one of ETSY.com's top sellers? Not only is she an amazing fiber artist, but she is the sweetest woman to work with and she is also getting married this month! Congrats Dani!!
Look at one of her beautiful new semi-solid colorways..... This one is called Avacado and it is so pretty if you love greens!!

We are still listing our new shipment of spindles from Israel from Avi Wasserman. He really outdid himself on this shipment. There is one that has an inlay of turquoise and then this other one of our favorites has stained blue tulip wood. If you are a spindle collector, these spindles are just incredible.......

Enjoy!!

New Download patterns by Anni Design

We are excited to offer you some new download patterns created by Anni Design. Anni is a Norwegian designer living in the UK. She learned to knit as a child and knitted lots of traditional Norweigan fair isle jumpers in her teen before giving up knitting for several years. Anni returned to knitting with her eyes set upon designing her own patterns. She now has a range of patterns including socks, shawls, bags and accessories. She has also just started to hand paint yarn. Since finding her passion for knitting again, Anni has become a self professed "yarn addict" and spend most of her days knitting, surfing knitting sites and blogs and dyeing. We are very pleased to have Anni's patterns for sale at One Planet Yarn and Fiber. Be sure to visit Anni on her website or her blog.

Just to wet your appetite, here are a few of Anni's wonderful patterns.

These patterns and more can now be purchased as downloads at One Pattern Yarn and Fiber.

Coming very soon! A new pattern by Melissa Wehrle along with some beautiful new Radiance colors to go with it, new spindles by Avi Wasserman, a gorgeous new shipment of Sunshine Yarns and a new Indie Yarn company from Australia called Knitting by Zen! And more!! :)

Introducing Lanas Puras Clarissa!

Lanas Puras Clarissa

We are very excited to introduce a new yarn by Lanas Puras. It is called Lanas Puras Clarissa. This yarn was spun and dyed for One Planet Yarn and Fiber in Uruguay. Since we designed the yarn ourselves, we are the only company that we know of with this wonderful yarn. The yarn is spun from 50% cotton and 50% merino wool. It is the same pure soft merino used in Lanas Puras Melosa, but spun with a strand of cotton, which results in a lighter, more breathable fabric. The yarn has an artisan feel to it because it is slightly thick and thin and it has some texture to it. My swatch using size 7 needles came in at 5 3/4 stiches per inch. Using size US 5 needles, it came in at 5 1/4 stitches per inch. This is considered a DK or light worsted weight yarn. We are considering adding Clarissa as a chunky yarn too and we would love your feedback on this after you have tried it! We will have patterns coming for this yarn. In the meantime, it works wonderfully for most DK or light worsted weight patterns. It is great for sweaters or shawls. If you are a designer and are interested in doing a pattern in Clarissa, contact Melissa Wehrle, our creative director. Since we have so many patterns coming out already this year, these might be for spring 2008 but still we would love to see and hear your ideas! The yarn is GORGEOUS and very unusual!!

Lanas Puras Clarissa currently comes in 12 gorgeous colors. Because of the way the dyeing is done, the yarn has a "tweed effect" It is simply beautiful!

Here is an example of two of the colors, Indigo and Pomegranate. Underneath, is a swatch of pomegranate on US 7 needles.

Coming Soon------

We are working on the Jo Sharp yarn and pattern listings and they will be up within the next week! More Jo Sharp yarns will be added later in the summer. We are also adding one other very exciting company- more information later on that!

We have an adorable pattern release coming soon. A pattern by Melissa Wehrle using Yarn Botanika Radiance Merino & Tencel. It is so cute!!! We are just waiting for our last shipment of merino and tencel yarn to arrive..... Did you know tencel is an eco friendly material? It is made from wood pulp and we love it! It adds a beautiful soft shine to the yarn. We have a ton of new colors coming soon, and there are still a lot of the older colorways on sale if you want to take advantage now...

We are introducting a new customer rewards program which I think you all will be excited it! We know you love the cards that come in your orders and there will be a slight change to those plus an additional program for people who buy from us frequently! If you are not on our mailing list, please join so you can hear about all of the new things happening at One Planet Yarn and Fiber.

Happy July 4th!!
